Anna's Mom
Thank you so much to those who have been praying for Anna's Mom, Gerd. Please, keep praying for her. As we mentioned in a previous prayer letter, Anna's mom was diagnosed with ALS in January of this year. As the disease has progressed, we thought it best for Anna and the girls to be back in the United States to spend time with Gerd, to help care for her, and to help around the house. Please continue to pray for both Gerd and Anna whenever you think about us. Jonathan will be back and forth between Colombia and the United States over the next few months.
Presidential Election
Colombia just elected its first leftist president with plans that many fear will ultimately weaken the Colombian economy and possibly undo decades of relative peace in Colombia. So, please pray for Colombia and its new president. We can’t predict the future, but there does seem to be some consensus around the idea that this change will begin to devalue the Colombian peso (that seems to have already begun), and that leads us into our next point.
Colombia Building Fund
We are now raising funds for the Colombia Building Fund, which will purchase a church building where multiple churches will meet and pay back into the fund each month. It's essentially a self-replenishing fund for purchasing church buildings in Colombia. You can read more about the Colombia Building Fund at www.buildingfund.co.
¿And what’s the connection with the recent presidential election? Well, if the Colombian peso loses value, that will mean that every dollar given to the building fund will likely be stretched even further and allow us to do even more with your donations. So please look into supporting this incredible project soon.
We aren’t really sure how long Anna will be in the United States and Jonathan will be traveling back and forth, but you can help us make the most of this unpredictable year by helping us raise funds for the Colombia Building Fund this year. And since Jonathan will be in the United States on and off, if you would like him to present the Building Fund to you, virtually or in person, let's figure out a time to do that.
